BOU AVENUE
Castle Mountain Lookout
After a winter that came late and just wouldn't go away, Dan Millar, Kelly Wood and I managed to get in our first hike of the season on 16 June 2002.  The Castle Mountain Lookout trail in Banff National Park was snow-free and ideal as an early conditioning trip.  About three years ago with weather that was unsettled but not altogether that bad, we hiked this trail in complete solitude.  This time, with sunny conditions, the trail was disappointingly crowded.  Still, the views were pleasant enough (we didn't have any views from the lookout the first time because of low clouds), and it was just good to be back in the mountains again.
Easy walking!
Kelly nears the lookout site.  The most obvious peak at right is Copper Mountain.
That's one happy hiker!
Behind Dan are the towering cliffs of Castle Mountain.
What crowds?
Sonny looks for an escape from the crowds.
I would return for a third visit to Castle Mountain Lookout in 2021.
