BOU AVENUE
Kananaskis Lookout

On 27 January 2018, Ali Shariat, Zosia Zgolak and I skied up to the Kananaskis Lookout in Alberta's Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.  This was my third time up there in as many years and my eighth time overall.  There were no surprises, of course.  Despite overcast weather and a lack of views, the snow was excellent throughout our trip, and the skiing was very enjoyable.
I always save the Elk Pass trail for the return with its kick-ass downhill run! Zosia and Ali reach the junction between Elk Pass and Boulton Creek trails.
Put your head on my shoulder... Sonny rests his heavy head on Ali's shoulder at the junction between Pocaterra, Whiskey Jack and Tyrwhitt trails.

This is why Canada Post decided to stop door-to-door delivery!

Strangely, there is a mailbox at the lookout site.

This never gets old! Ali, Zosia and Sonny gather in front of the Kananaskis Lookout building (2132 metres).
Better than a white-out, I guess... Despite the overcast weather, Mount Pocaterra is still visible to the east.
Not for the timid! Zosia has just descended the south arm of Lookout trail, the most difficult in the whole ski trail system according to guidebook author Gillean Daffern.
Prince Ali! Mighty is he! Ali Abwabwa! Ali follows closely behind Zosia on the Lookout trail.
A great way to kill 4 hours! Total Distance: 15.9 kilometres
Total Time: 3 hours 49 minutes
Net Elevation Gain: 410 metres
