BOU AVENUE
Roswell
Waking up to high winds on the morning of 28 December 2022, Zosia Zgolak and I made the difficult decision to abort our hike for the day.  Instead, we visited the city of Roswell, New Mexico which is infamously linked to a supposed UFO crash in 1947.  We first spent a couple of hours throwing a few of our own "UFOs" at the Enchantment Lands disc golf course.  I was initially a bit skeptical since the first few holes looked a bit shabby, but once we got into the heart of the course, it turned out to be absolutely wonderful--perhaps one of the best courses we played on our entire trip.  By some luck or because of the course design, the prevailing windy conditions seemingly did not affect our play that much.  At the conclusion of our round of disc golf, we ventured downtown to tour all the kitschy alien shops and installations there.  The highlight was a visit to the International UFO Museum & Research Center which, despite its fanciful name, is really not much more than a glorified curio shop.
The truth is out there...

There appears to be a mysterious disc-shaped cloud hovering in the sky above the highway.

Honk, honk!

These flying objects are not so hard to identify.

Do you think she made it? Zosia tries to make a putt at Enchanted Lands disc golf course in Roswell, New Mexico.
Pathway is O.B.

Mmmm...donuts and ice cream! There are some strange characters in downtown Roswell.

Are you ready for a close encounter?

Zosia finds serenity in the form of a UFO!

And somehow got transported to southern Arizona to boot (saguaro cacti in the background). Zosia makes some new friends at Roswell's UFO museum.
Live long and prosper! Sonny does his best to infuriate both sci-fi movie buffs and Trekkies alike as he holds up a Vulcan greeting next to Gort and Klaatu from The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951).
Hmmm, I wonder what I'll have for lunch at the cafeteria today... Sonny is reminded of his days working in a research lab cutting and grinding mouse tails for PCR analysis.
I would like the ribs, please! Zosia witnesses an alien autopsy.
Sounds legit. This replica of a sarcophagus lid of the Mayan king, K'inich Janaab' Pakal is thought to depict an ancient man riding a rocket ship according to Erich von Däniken, the infamous author of Chariots of the Gods?.
Sorry, Dave. I can't do that. Zosia tries to experience what it must feel like to travel through hyperspace.
E.T. phone home! Zosia asks one of the locals in Roswell where she might be able to get some hot water.
