BOU AVENUE
Seattle Wanderings

On 7 April 2026, Zosia Zgolak and I spent the day touring parts of Seattle, Washington.  We started the day with a short but fun 10-hole round of disc golf at Blyth Park in Bothell.  We then drove to Lake View Cemetery in Seattle where we visited the graves of the legendary Bruce Lee and his son, Brandon.  Adjacent to the cemetery is Volunteer Park, and we went for a walk there which included an obligatory climb up the historic water tower at the south end of the park.

Zosia and I next drove downtown to wander through the ever popular Pike Place Market and grab something for lunch.  This was followed by a walk along the pier to Olympic Sculpture Park and then back again to Pike Place Market.  We then drove back to our hotel in Kirkland to relax and freshen up a bit before heading to my brother's place for dinner to round out the day.
She added the green onions though! Zosia begins the day with a hearty breakfast at her hotel in Kirkland.
I don't remember making such a long putt at this course! Sonny appears to have made a long putt at Howling Coyote Disc Golf Course (Blyth Park) in Bothell.

Pretty in pink! Zosia stands under a cherry blossom tree in Seattle's Lake View Cemetery.
R.I.P. Lake View Cemetery is the final resting place of the legendary Bruce Lee and his son, Brandon.
Wanna peanut? This is one of many squirrels that can be found in Volunteer Park which is just south of and adjacent to Lake View Cemetery.
As identified by AI; I have no clue what these flowers are! Zosia is seemingly overwhelmed by pink azalea flowers.
Or is it the Everything Bagel from "Everything, Everywhere, All At Once"? Zosia and an unknown dog stand beside "Black Sun", a sculpture by Isamu Noguchi made of Brazilian black granite.
Just as good as the Space Needle and it's free! Sonny climbs up the inside of an old water tower located at the south end of Volunteer Park.

Could easily pass as a European castle, no? Here is a view of the water tower from the outside.
Quack, quack! Friendly mallards are also abundant in Volunteer Park.

Not magnolias! Zosia's jacket matches the colour of the Japanese camellia flowers surrounding her.
Smells like fish around here! At Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle, Zosia is amused by the shrimp sign.
"Shao-dair"? No, it's "Chow-der"! Sonny prepares to eat some clam chowder for lunch.

Yummy Russia! Zosia shows off her smoked salmon pastry from Piroshky Piroshky.  On the table is another pastry but filled with ground beef.
At the time, we didn't even realize there was a "son" since he was hidden by the fountain! At Olympic Sculpture Park, Zosia sits beside "Father and Son", a sculpture created by Louise Bourgeois.
That's a big head! "Echo" was created by Catalan sculptor, Jaume Plensa.

He says, "Give me two dollars!" Back at Pike Place Market, Zosia listens to what Zoltar has to say about her future.
Oink, oink! "Rachel" is Pike Place Market's resident piggy bank which collects donations for local social services.  Designed by Georgia Gerber, the bronze pig was modeled after a real prize-winning pig named "Rachel" that lived on Whidbey Island.  A 2018 article estimated that Rachel annually collects roughly $20,000 USD!
Thank you for the gift, Lynette! William Bou and Sonny show off matching Seattle Seahawks jackets which were gifts from William's wife, Lynette.
