BOU AVENUE
Tubbs Hill

Heading home at the end of our spring break road trip, Zosia Zgolak and I stopped in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho for a short walk up Tubbs Hill on 15 April 2023.  There are many points of access to the municipal park where Tubbs Hill is located, but probably the most convenient is a parking lot along 10th Street between Mountain Avenue and Lakeshore Drive.  From the parking lot, we did a clockwise loop which entailed walking southward along East Side Trail before connecting with Main Trail and winding around to the south side of Tubbs Hill.  At this point, we followed signs for Summit Trail and climbed over the high point before dropping down the north side and returning to the parking lot via Main Trail and 10th Street Trail.  Ironically, the high point is probably the least scenic spot on the hill, but there are plenty of satisfying viewpoints scattered throughout the rest of the park.
Or follow the crowd! Zosia is happy that signage is excellent on Tubbs Hill.
Easy summit but no views!

Spring is here! Grass widow (Olsynium douglasii) flowers are blooming all over Tubbs Hill.

Okay, time to go home!

Part of downtown Coeur d'Alene can be seen from this clearing north of the high point.  The snow-capped mountain on the right horizon is Washington's Mount Spokane.
